Possession of marijuana results in arrest of Oregon man

Mandan, N.D. – Shortly after 1:00 p.m. on Dec. 14, a Morton County Sheriff’s Office deputy arrested a 60-year-old Oregon man possessing 80 pounds of marijuana following a traffic stop on I-94 for illegal window tint.

Ricky Fischer of Culver, Oregon was traveling to Minneapolis, Minnesota when he was stopped. While conducting the traffic stop, the deputy noticed several plastic totes in the back of the pickup. The deputy explained that he was actively patrolling for drug trafficking and asked to search the totes. Consent was given by the driver to do a vehicle search.

Fischer opened the totes for the deputy to view, which produced a strong odor of marijuana. The driver admitted the totes contained marijuana. Fischer was arrested for possession of a controlled substance with an intent to deliver, a class A felony.
