Lower Heart Water District

When a water conservation and flood control district has been created and resident freeholder in the district shall be eligible for appointment to the Board of Commissioners thereof.

After June 30, 1985, when the term of office of a district manager has expired, the manager's successor shall hold office for three (3) years from the first day of January next following the date of the successor's appointment. 

The Lower Heart River Water Resource District Board is responsible for making decisions on issues involving the upkeep and improvements to the Levee System protecting Mandan from Heart River Flooding, also on the upkeep and improvements to the interior drainage system. The Morton County Lower Heart River Water Resource District meets the second Thursday of each month.
