Morton County Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan 2025 Update
Morton County Emergency Management, in conjunction with Nexus Planning & Consulting, LLC, is preparing to update the Morton County Multi-Jurisdictional Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan as required by FEMA. The updated plan draft will be available for public review. Once released, you will be able to access the draft on the websites of Morton County and the cities of Glen Ullin, Hebron, Mandan, and New Salem. A printed copy will also be available for in-person review at the Morton County Office of Emergency Management, located in the Morton County Courthouse in Mandan.
Public Hearing and Review Process A public hearing will be scheduled to gather community feedback on the updated draft. The hearing will include a review of the draft plan, a summary of survey results, and a discussion of public comments received. Details on the date, time, and location of the hearing will be announced once finalized. Following the public hearing, the Steering Committee will meet to review comments, approve participation by local jurisdictions, and endorse the draft plan for submission to the North Dakota Department of Emergency Services (NDDES) for preliminary approval.
Next Steps After receiving preliminary approval from NDDES, each participating jurisdiction must adopt the plan through a formal resolution. Once all jurisdictions have passed adoption resolutions, FEMA will issue an official approval letter.
