Snow Removal
Snow removal is performed on approximately 1,275 miles of roads. Snow removal in rural Morton County is much different than in a city or town. The five incorporated town streets are cleared by the County Highway Dept.
A snow blizzard in rural areas is very different and can be much more dangerous than in town. Snow removal is scheduled for up to 3 days to complete all of the roads after the storm subsides. Strong winds on clear days can give a false sense of security when leaving a town to rural areas. After a major storm, it can and has taken up to 7 days to clear all roads. Rural residents must understand and be aware of this possibility. They are encouraged to make arrangements to remain in town if such conditions exist.
